Feeling mixed emotions... I graduated high school in 1987 at Divine Word College in Tagbilaran City, Bohol and known now as Holy Name University. I heard that we are going to celebrate our 30th anniversary? Is this true? Am i excited? Not at all... and do you know why?
It's not like the same feeling anymore. Too many heartaches and disappointments leading to our every major reunions.
One instance when i supported the preparations of our 20th anniversary in 2007 and with my full support to communicate and reached out to others asking for contributions and their latest pictures who now resides in America and in return, i was also asked to submit my recent photos, i remembered very well that i submitted a lot just to be sure.
To my disappointment, when the souvenir programs were published, my photos were not there. Got so upset but i have moved on.
Fast forward 2010, i was finally able to go home in Bohol and at first so hesitant to meet them for what had happened but some of my batchmates told me to let go of the past and which i did. Happy thoughts happened after all in 2010 encounter with them.
Since then i am back and excited again discussing for another major reunion to celebrate our Silver anniversary or 25 years in high school but along the way leading to the reunion in 2012, i kind of backed out because of some misunderstandings with the members and especially the leaders of the planning committee.
The planned high school reunion was to be held in July of 2012 but since i am no longer interested to attend, i travelled to the Philippines in May 2012 and was able to visit my home town Bohol with some close friends from California doing some outreach programs and met few of my batchmates and they were so happy to tell me that the reunion in July is all set up and asked me if i will be attending and all i said was, let's see...... I did not attend!
Next month is already 2016 and as this early, they are already making rounds again promoting our 30th year anniversary. Let's just hope and see what my mood would bring me in 2017.
