We always believe our first love is our last, and our last love is our first.
Someone interpreted this as,
“"We always believe our first love is our last": This means that young people (foolishly) tend to think that they will never be able to find another person as great as who they have now, and if they lost this person, then they would never be able to fall in love again.
"...and our last love is our first": This means that each time you fall in love again, it's more powerful and enjoyable than the relationship that came before it - so much so that you might say that this last person is the only one you truly love, and with everyone who came before, you simply THOUGHT you were in love. This is because as you get older, you get wiser with regards to how to conduct yourself in a relationship, who the right person is for you, and so on.
This is the first time I've heard this quote, but I think it's beautiful and a completely accurate summary of our understanding of love as life progresses.”Based on my personal experience, it’s similar to T. S. Elliott’s "We shall not cease from exploration. But at the end of all our explorations, we will go back to where we started; only to know the place for the first time".Guess it all depends on one’s first love experience. In my case, so far, my first love was the best.

"true love is life's best treasure.
wealth and fame may pass away,
bring no joy or lasting pleasure.
true love abides all way.
through the world i'll gladly go,
if one true love i know."

Everyone, who came into my world, left footprints in my heart. Some, so faint, I can hardly detect them. Others, so clear, I can easily discern them. Regardless, they all influenced me. They all made me who I am.
