kontodo practice na si Megan Young para sa Finals Night on September 28, 2013 in TIndonesia
Young, a 23-year-old, actress and student in Digital Filmmaking at College of St. Benilde, currently leads in the official Miss World online poll prediction to win the title. Young won P1 million cash prize and GMA Network management contract as Miss World Philippines 2013. She was greeted by Miss World president Julia Morley as one of the most beautiful representatives the country has ever crowned. Even Osmel Sousa, the president of the Miss Venezuela organization, has acknowledged the Fil-American’s stunning beauty as the one to beat for this year’s Miss World title currently held by Wenxia Yu of China.
Miss World Philippines national director Cory Quirino is very confident that Young has all the chances of winning, noting her poise, beauty and intelligence and athletic skills which the Philippine bet can use to great advantage. Young, who is one of the National Peace Ambassadors for the “I Am For Peace” campaign held in Malacanang Palace and a constant volunteer in disaster relief operations for calamity victims, is aiming to bag the ‘beauty with a purpose’ special award in Miss World contest. Other side competitions are talent, beach beauty, sports, top model and designer award, topping any one secures a spot as one of the semi-finalists in the finals to be held at the Sentul International Convention Center on Sept. 28.
The Miss World contest is being held for the first time in Indonesia, the world’s most populous Islamic country. It has angered Muslim hardliners protesting that it is an immoral event and that the girls’ skin exposure in the contest violates Islamic teachings. The Miss World organizers agreed to cut the bikini beach beauty competition replacing skimpy swimsuits with the more conservative sarongs while local organizers tried to appease protesters giving assurance that the event will be in accordance with the Muslim culture and that there was no attempt to exploit the contestants.
Evangeline Pascual in 1973, Ruffa Guttierez in 1994 and Gwendoline Ruais in 2011 almost won the Miss World crown. Will Megan Young succeed where the others before her failed? Will keep our fingers crossed. In the meantime, vote for Megan for a place in the semi-finals of Miss World 2013
