It looks like there are going to be a lot more couples heading to far-flung corners of the globe for their honeymoon very soon! To celebrate diversity and love in all its forms this week, we wanted to showcase some great romantic destinations in Asia for couples who’ve been waiting to get married for a very long time. (Happily, you don’t have to be married to enjoy these destinations!)
What does Asia have to offer newlyweds? As it turns out, there’s a colourful variety of honeymoon hotspots to choose from, and these are just a few of the most delightful destinations!
1) Palawan, Philippines Palawan Island in the Philippines has a mind-boggling number of beaches and resorts. You don’t have to be a marine wildlife enthusiast to appreciate the Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, like the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River. We just love the idea of kicking off your honeymoon with a river cruise while watching fireflies!
1a) El NidoEl Nido’s name seems to mark it as the perfect destination for lovebirds: it means “The Nest.” With over 45 islands and islets, newlyweds might very well feel like El Nido is their own private paradise. There’s plenty to do (apart from gazing into each other’s eyes), including snorkelling, diving, and trekking. Majestic limestone karst formations form a picturesque backdrop for honeymoon selfies, and there’s also the time-honoured tradition of lolling around on the beach and partying after sundown at the popular Pukka bar, open till 3am.
