Pomegranate:
One of the more well known superfoods with one of the highest antioxidant levels of any fruit. Pomegranates are mentioned even as far back as in the mythology of ancient Greece, they contain large amounts of potassium and vitamin B5. The juice from pomegranate seeds can reduce the risk of heart disease and their oil may even slow the development of colon and prostate cancer while being proven to be effective on the proliferation of breast cancer cells.

Apples:
Could it be true that an apple a day actually does keep the doctor away? It certainly could be considering on how many levels they're beneficial to your health. Apples are packed with antioxidants that help your body and contain more immune system boosting vitamin C than an orange. There are so many flavours, textures and types that you'll never get bored so why not try adding at least a few slices of apple a day to your diet.

Broccoli:
Not many people realise but broccoli is part of the cabbage family and contains many potential cancer fighting qualities. It is packed full with high levels of soluble fibre, vitamin C and selenium but be careful not to cook it for too long or it will lose some of those health boosting compounds.

Honey:
Instead of using sugar or sweetener, honey is a natural choice that is actually good for your body! As well as helping cuts to heal quicker and protecting your body against free-radicals, it possesses anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Salmon:
It's not a myth that salmon could potentially help make you more intelligent! It is a rich source of both fish oils, EPA and DHA which are proven to good for brain function. Salmon is also a great source of vitamin D and essential fatty acid, Omega-3. It is also proven to be good for your heart and can improve blood levels and heart rate and therefore cardiovascular fitness.

Garlic:
Garlic is proven to lower blood pressure and research suggests that it could even help reduce levels of bad cholesterol in your blood stream, there is also a possibility that it could help prevent stomach cancer! Eating too much cooked with your food might give you a bit of bad breath but you can prevent that by swallowing a clove whole or even buying supplements.
